Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have reportedly reached a temporary custody agreement after being at odds about the case for more than two years. The arrangement supposedly provides Pitt with less than 50 percent of the kids’ custody but that figure will rise over time through multiple stages, ET reported.

“A custody arrangement was agreed to weeks ago, and has been signed by both parties and the judge," Jolie’s attorney, Samantha Bley DeJean, revealed. "The agreement, which is based on the recommendations of the child custody evaluator, eliminates the need for a trial. The filing and details of the agreement are confidential to protect the best interests of the children.” Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s decision came amidst order from the court that they need to hash things over before Dec. 4.

If the ex-couple’s decision surpassed the allotted time given, then the court will have no choice but to decide for them. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie recently filed an extension for the proceedings until December 2019, which the court granted.

Now, however, it seems that the pair managed to reach a middle ground and has avoided a potentially messy trial that would’ve sprouted a host of other complications. Apparently, Angelina Jolie was intending to use the child abuse allegations against Brad Pitt even though investigation on the matter found the actor not guilty.

As a refresher, the abovementioned allegation occurred in 2016 where the “Troy” actor was investigated by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services. The probe deemed Brad Pitt innocent but Angelina Jolie still filed for divorce at the time citing “irreconcilable differences.”

Fortunately, the ex-couple won’t have to go through a nasty back and forth inside the courtroom as they finally were able to find an agreement that suits both parties. However, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie will now have to deal with their divorce proceedings that will likely take some time before it gets settled.

There’s also the fact that the custody agreement hasn’t ended just yet as the court is “reserving jurisdiction over termination of marital or domestic partnership status and financial issues.” Hopefully, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s divorce proceedings won’t end up like their custody case. But given that there are millions of dollars’ worth of money and property involved, it’s expected that the divorce will take some time to iron out.
