'Boruto' episode 118 release date, spoilers: Boruto loses his memories; Konohamaru learns new technique

The upcoming installment of the anime series is going to be about the monster called Soma that is capable of consuming a person’s memories. Unfortunately, the titular ninja could be its next victim in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 118.

The synopsis of “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 118 (via OrganicDinosaur) indicates that Konohamaru continues to investigate on Kankitsu. But he ended up getting detained in Daidai Village and forced back to Hidden Leaf. However, Boruto continues the task alone and gets close to Kankitsu at some point until “something astonishing happens,” according to the “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 118 teaser.

Meanwhile, the episode preview shows Boruto coming home and making Himawari wonder why his clothes are all torn and dirty. Boruto appears to not recall anything in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 118, not even about the hair clip they previously gave to Lemon.

Fans may recall that Lemon's servant, Asaki, asked Konohamaru and Boruto to investigate on Kankitsu because he cryptically leaves every day. But when she was about to meet with the ninjas for a second time to report, Kankitsu stood behind her, his body was wrapped in a glowing light, and Asaki suddenly forgot about her appointment with Konohamaru and Boruto. It is then possible that Soma already has far more control on Kankitsu, and in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 118, he consumes some of Boruto's memories.

It now appears that one main goal for this filler arc is to set up Konohamaru to learn a technique associated with his late grandfather, Hiruzen a.k.a. the Third Hokage. Episode 117 and the “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 118 preview both confirmed that Soma’s existence leads Konohamaru into revisiting lessons and notes left by his grandfather.

Hiruzen is known for successfully executing the Dead Demon Consuming Seal technique that was originally mastered by the Uzumaki clan for the Nine-Tail beast. It is practically a sealing technique for monsters that do not have a physical form, something that Lemon confirmed about Soma. Konohamaru will likely learn this technique in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 118 to help Lemon lead a happy life and not bound to a curse that forces her to marry Kankitsu. This episode will be released on Sunday, Aug. 4.
