Although “Boruto” Episode 86 is about to drop, the story of the upcoming segment is not the most popular talking point right now. Rather, it’s the fact that fans are becoming increasingly frustrated with how long the Mitsuki arc is. Not only is it completely irrelevant to the main story of the series, but many are also complaining that it is absolutely boring. Even the tragedy of Onoki’s loss isn’t enough to make up for it.
“Boruto” Episode 86 is basically intended to reveal more of the reason for why Onoki is trying to enact the plan that he has. It involves the death of his grandson Kozuchi in a previous war that became his motivation to use puppets instead. Unfortunately, this plan also meant deceiving Konoha and Naruto, as well as kidnapping Mitsuki.
There are also some other events in “Boruto” Episode 86 that are of significance to this particular storyline. Among them is the possibility of someone getting killed for the purpose of creating a better body for Mitsuki. It would appear that a human heart is necessary for the process, so this is going to be nasty.
However, whether it is the tragic backstory of Onoki’s grand plans or the impending death of someone who is about to get their heart taken, it’s all the same to many fans. At this point, a lot of viewers are ready to abandon the show until it gets back to the main story. “Boruto” Episode 86 might even be the last episode for some.
This is unfortunate because the main story in the manga has yet to fully develop and there are still only a few chapters to work with. This means that aside from “Boruto” Episode 86 that is about to air on Dec. 16, viewers might get nothing but filler episodes for a while.
