‘Bones’ season 11’s episode 21, entitled “The Jewel in the Crown”, follows the Jeffersonian team as they attempt to solve another murder case. They may need to work hand-in-hand with a French detective who claims that he is knowledgeable about the case. Meanwhile, Booth’s eyesight goes bad and he may be needing prescription glasses.
'Bones' Episode 21’s synopsis posted on Buddy TV stated, "The team investigates a body found at a glass recycling plant with a diamond lodged in its jaw. French Inspector Rousseau approaches the team with an accusation against the Marquis De Chaussin, who is revealed to be the victim’s husband and lives in Virginia. Meanwhile, Booth discovers he suffers from a temporary eye illness, and Hodgins thinks he’s being followed by a ghost."
According to Carter Matt, a new character will be joining the Jeffersonian team but it is yet to be known if he is to be trusted. The French detective will be lending his skills to help investigate the new case. Perhaps he really does have some insight on the murder case or he could be the culprit himself hiding in the guise of an expert.
The promo opens to Hodgins (T.J. Thyne) telling Brennan (Emily Deschanel) that the victim is not American after running some tests. He further explains that the body’s chemical composition reveals that the victim hails from France. All of a sudden, a Frenchman comes in and offers his opinions. He is introduced as inspector who has information relevant to the case.
Brennan says, “With all due respect, inspector, but I don’t know how you can have information on a murder when we do not know who our murder victim is or how or where she was killed.” The detective replies, “You are correct. I don’t know how or where she was killed but I know who she is and who killed her.” The Jeffersonian team looks at him in surprise.
He goes on to explain, “We are pursuing this jewel thief across France for the past six months… Now I believe your heist is identical to all of mine.” He reveals that the murder victim is a marquise. He stakes his reputation on the theory that the perpetrator is the victim’s own husband and is determined to prove his identity as the jewel thief.
Meanwhile, a teaser video posted on Entertainment Weekly showed Brennan and Booth (David Boreanaz) bicker about the latter’s blurry eyesight. Brennan tests Booth by asking him to read random street signs to which Booth fails miserably. Booth blames the alcohol he consumed the night before but Brennan isn’t convinced and tells him to consult an eye doctor.
Booth insists, “I’m fine. Okay? Listen, I’ve had 20/10 vision my whole life. It’s what makes me an expert marksman.” Exasperated, Brennan replies, “I hate to tell you this, Booth, but you’re not 22 anymore.” Booth decides to prove his point and asks Brennan to pull over so he could drive but Brennan shoots his idea down sarcastically.
‘Bones’ season 11’s episode 21 is scheduled to air on July 14, 2016. “The Jewel in the Crown” is directed by David Grossman and written by Jon Cowan.
