Marriottsville, MD , April 05, 2016 -- Bon Secours Health System is pleased to announce that Anna Grant has been named one of Tomorrow’s Leaders for 2016 by the Catholic Health Association of the United States (CHA). Grant is director of Integration for the Division of Clinical Excellence at Bon Secours Health System. The purpose of the recognition is to encourage promising young leaders to continue their careers in the Catholic health ministry.

Each year, CHA’s awards committee recognizes outstanding young leaders selected from nominees submitted by CHA members nationwide. Grant was nominated by Bon Secours’ senior leaders for her exemplary modeling of the health system’s eight core values—respect, justice, integrity, stewardship, compassion, quality, growth and innovation—as well as her leadership in initiatives promoting high-quality, cost-effective patient care at Bon Secours’ locations in six states. She plays a major role in strategic planning and monitoring the progress of the health system’s strategic quality plan.
Grant joined Bon Secours in 2007 as an administrative resident while completing a Master’s degree in Health Administration from the Virginia Commonwealth University. She was hired as a clinical excellence analyst and has held four positions within Bon Secours Health System, advancing each time to play a larger role in initiatives promoting quality health care and cost containment. A gifted statistician, Grant oversees the health system’s data collection and reporting, working to advance quality, safety and service at Bon Secours. Skilled at fusing information from multiple data systems, she coordinates all activities around performance improvement and the actions needed to improve outcomes. Among her accomplishments, she developed an innovative system to measure whether patients were getting important follow-up care to prevent hospital readmissions.
This year CHA selected ten individuals who form the “2016 class of Tomorrow’s Leaders,” and who will be honored at the Catholic Health Assembly, June 5-7, in Orlando, Fla., during its annual awards banquet. The honorees also are invited to participate in an exclusive leadership formation retreat, which brings them face to face with senior leaders from across the Catholic health ministry.
Marlon Priest, M.D., Bon Secours’ chief medical officer, describes Grant as a true servant leader. “Anna came to us at a propitious time,” said Priest. “We were launching our Clinical Transformation Initiative and preparing for the redesign of health care delivery in anticipation of the Affordable Care Act. We were also preparing to implement our own electronic health record system.”
Grant is an active participant in Bon Secours’ Ministry Leadership Formation programs. She also works closely with executives to address health disparities in the community and enable the health system to work with community leaders and groups to “co-create” healthier communities. She freely donates time and talent to various causes in and outside of work.
