As one of the most surprising sleeper hits to explode in popularity in recent memory, a lot of people are anticipating the premiere of “Bodyguard” Season 2. However, it would seem that there is an issue with regards to this particular topic with actor John Madden (David Budd) and Jed Mercurio struggling with it. Basically, discussions are still going on with absolutely no guarantees that a second season is coming.
To be clear, there is certainly an interest on the cast’s part to make “Bodyguard” Season 2 happen. It’s really just a question of how it is going to be done and it needs to be done right. After all, one of the biggest reasons why the show became as popular as it was would be the narrative suspense and the superb acting.
Without those to provide the right amount of thrill and suspense, “Bodyguard” Season 2 is going to bomb hard. For now, it seems that there are discussions with regards to how the second season is actually going to be brought about. John Madden said as much in a recent interview with Ellen.
"We hope [there will be a season two]," the actor told the host. "Me and Jed are talking about it a lot . . . we're going to have next year to throw some ideas together and talk, so hopefully so!"
He said the same thing when speaking to People. When the publication asked him about “Bodyguard” Season 2 he said that it was “definitely a possibility. I'm meeting Jed [Mercurio] the writer tomorrow, actually. I think we'll probably have a glass of champagne and do some talking."
For those who managed to miss out on the first season of the thrilling show, it is currently available on Netflix. If the folks behind the series do manage to come to a decision with regards to “Bodyguard” Season 2 and begin production soon, its premiere date might fall somewhere around 2021.
