CBS has yet to break their silence about their plans regarding “Blue Bloods” Season 10. But if the current ratings of the police procedural are anything to go by, it’s likely that the network will be ordering another 22 episodes for the tenth installment.
According to Ranker, the series is currently one of CBS’ most successful series, lagging only behind “Salvation,” “Criminal Minds,” and “NCIS.” The problem is that the cast has yet to sign their contracts for “Blue Bloods” Season 10, which is causing a bit of apprehension among the fans.
There’s also the fact that Donnie Wahlberg – who plays Danny in the series – has a new show called “Very Scary People,” Cinema Blend reported. It’s still unclear whether Wahlberg’s involvement with HLN’s new docu-series will affect his chances of reprising his role in “Blue Bloods” Season 10. However, given that the actor hasn’t provided any indications of him leaving the series, it’s best to remain positive for now.
After all, signing contracts isn’t necessarily all that complicated and the show has already established this process given how long it’s been running. Series lead star Tom Selleck has also provided some information why the cast hasn’t re-signed for “Blue Bloods” Season 10.
“Typically, most cast members sign contracts for six or seven years upon joining a show, and then after that, they tend to negotiate on an annual or semi-annual basis. A lot of it depends on each actor’s desire to continue the show, the monetary value of the contract, studio demands, or other factors,” Selleck explained. And speaking of the actor, he has also given some hints about Frank’s story in “Blue Bloods” Season 10.
On the romantic side of things, at least. Selleck said that the possibility of Frank finding love at his age is essentially non-existent at this point. Although there have been other characters that have been linked with Frank, Selleck said that it will not develop into a full-blown romance. Part of the reason why the showrunners are taking this route is to emphasize Frank’s sacrifice for his family. As for the release date of “Blue Bloods” Season 10, CBS hasn’t announced anything yet. But it’s expected to come out in September as all nine installments have been released during this month.
