Fans of the sci-fi anthology series by Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones have long been waiting for the announcement of the “Black Mirror” Season 6 release date. Unfortunately, Netflix hasn’t breathed a word on either its renewal or cancellation until now.
But just because there’s no official confirmation of the “Black Mirror” Seasons 6 renewal does not mean it isn’t coming. In fact, the consensus among the show’s millions of fans is that it would be foolish of the platform to cancel such a critically acclaimed series.
“Bandersnatch,” the series’ interactive standalone episode which was released back in 2018, was such a phenomenon that, as Radio Times puts it, “we’d be very surprised if Netflix didn’t sign Brooker and Jones up for further episodes.”
Even the shows executive producer/creator seems confident that the “Black Mirror” Season 6 release will definitely come to pass. “I don’t think there’s anything to stop us,” Charlie Brooker once told Digital Spy.
But even if Brooker’s team is hard at work at producing “Black Mirror” Season 6 while managing to prevent any telltale clues from leaking out, fans might have to wait for it to arrive on Netflix. And the reason for its delay is “Bandersnatch.”
Rather, it was the creation of the interactive episode that sort of pushed back the timetable for future releases of “Black Mirror.” It was such a complicated production that the schedule was moved by around six months. This means that the sixth season of “Black Mirror” will likely come out by late 2020.
Now here’s something exciting about “Bandersnatch” once more. Since fans loved it so much, why won’t Brooker come up with something like it? Well, he actually thought of that as well and he already has some ideas on how to go about it next time.
“While we were making it, we kept saying ‘We’ll never do this again,’” Brooker told the Hollywood Reporter. “And then I guess, perhaps like childbirth, you block out the pain and approach it a second time! By the end, I was saying, ‘Oh I’ve got an idea.’ It’s definitely something I would do again and I think there are lots of ways to tackle it.”
