Despite the hate that the Creation Club is getting from the gaming community, Bethesda is still pushing it on players. This time, the company is trying to entice mod enthusiasts by adding a Survival Mode in The Elder Scrolls V: Skryim Special Edition. The new mode is still in Beta and accessible via Steam, but once it is officially released, it can only be accessed via the Creation Club for a price.
Anyone who wants to see what the Survival Mode for Skyrim Special Edition is all about can sign up for the free Beta on Steam right now, according to Bethesda’s announcement blog post. For gamers who don’t approve of the Creation Club, this may be their only chance to try the mode for themselves. Once it goes live, it becomes premium content for the company’s paid mod service.
“Skyrim Creation Club's all-new Survival Mode is now available on Steam for beta testing. You can be one of the first to check it out by simply opting-into the Steam beta,” the post reads. “PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players will get to experience Survival Mode and other Creations early next month. Both PC and console players will get Survival Mode free for one week once it launches on their preferred platform.”
Just to be clear, Survival Mode is going to be a “paid” content for the Skyrim Special Edition. This really goes a long way towards supporting the opinion by gamers that Bethesda is absolutely milking the title for all it is worth.
The company has yet to announce a price for the new feature, Polygon reports. However, if exiting paid contents on the Creation Club are anything to judge by, something that overhauls gameplay is likely going to cost above the $5 mark. There are free mods on the Skyrim Nexus with significantly better features created by modders who are not out to fleece gamers such as Frostfall.
