BIGBANG’s TOP completed his mandatory army service duty on July 6, and he was warmly welcomed by his fans. Although it was previously reported that there would be no special events for his discharged, the Yongsan Community District office and his local fans actually arranged a small fan meeting for him on Saturday.
The gathering was intimate, and the media was not invited. It turned out that this event was kept a secret from the press, so the fans and TOP were able to closely interact without the hullabaloo that usually arose when they are present.
The first fan meeting
It was reported that the press people have gathered outside the Yongsan Craft Center and they expect BIGBANG’s TOP to speak to them and comment on his discharge. They even prepared the mic and marked the spot where he should stand, but he did not come out to see them.

Rather, the BIGBANG member was led to another place where his loyal fans were waiting for him. For almost an hour, TOP went around and shook hands with them, and it was quite a sight as everyone was calm and just sitting as they wait for the singer to reach their spots.
TOP's overwhelmed with emotions
Obviously touched with the warm welcome, TOP was seen wiping away his tears at one point. He knows that they also suffered from his past actions and yet, they are still here with him and earnestly showing their undying support.
It was a happy occasion overall, and he further expressed his gratitude via social media. On July 8, he posted some photos of the secret fan meeting and wrote a short message on Instagram. He said that even though he is not proud of himself, he wants to show his deepest gratitude to all the fans who made time to share the moment with him.
“I will make sure to reflect on my self and repay the hurts and disappointments I caused to you,” he wrote. “Again, thank you.”
BIGBANG’s TOP’s period of service in the army was reduced by 27 days. Adhering to the new rule in South Korea’s mandatory military duty, the singer was discharged this weekend instead of the original date set in August.
