Audi will supply Swiss team Sauber with engines from the start of the new engine regulation era, which will focus on 100 percent sustainable fuels, for their 2026 Formula One entry.
The car will continue to be built at Sauber's Hinwil headquarters, and the team will retain operational control on race day.
The production of the engines will take place at Audi's Neuburg site, which is actively expanding its staff, structures, and technical infrastructure to handle the project.
By 2023, this should mainly be in place.
Just one year before it must make its on-track debut, in 2025, the new Formula One engines will undergo their initial tests.
Audi also plans to acquire a stake in Sauber Group, with previous rumors suggesting it was looking at purchasing 75 percent of the Formula One team.
With Alfa Romeo’s current naming rights deal with Sauber set to end at the end of the 2023 season, Audi branding is likely to feature on the car in some form before its official entrance to the global motorsport series in 2026.
