The new trailer for “Arrow” season 7 gives fans a sneak peek at Oliver’s (Stephen Amell) gloomy and action-packed life in prison. But, more importantly, it also briefly introduces the main villains in the upcoming installment — the Longbow Hunters.
More details about the first episodes of “Arrow” season were published recently. For the season opener, its title, “Inmate 4587,” confirms that fans will find Oliver a.k.a. Green Arrow in Slabside Maximum Security Prison.
It can be recalled that he surrendered to the FBI and took accountability of his “crimes” as a vigilante. In exchange, the agency has to go all out in taking down Diaz (Kirk Acevedo). According to the official synopsis, “Arrow” season 7 opens with a five-month time jump from the season 6 finale.
In the trailer, Oliver says he wants to stay out of trouble and hopes to avoid getting in anyone’s crosshairs. The “Arrow” season 7 episode 1 synopsis adds that he is determined to “shorten his sentence for the sake of his family.”
However, both the trailer and the “Arrow” season 7 episode 1 synopsis reveal that it is just impossible for Oliver to stay out of trouble. If the old enemies he helped get sent to prison find out he is Green Arrow, he will soon be obliged to fight back.
It is unclear how long Oliver stays in prison in “Arrow” season 7 but, hopefully, it will not take long as the FBI does not seem to keep their end of the bargain. Instead of taking down Diaz, he becomes the leader of this season's group of baddies, the Longbow Hunters.
The introduction of the main villains will also happen early in "Arrow" season 7. In fact, the second episode is titled after them. In the latest trailer, they are seen wreaking havoc in Star City while posing as the Green Arrow.
In “Arrow” season 7, Green Arrow and his team will also be dealing with Richard Dragon’s cohorts. And they are Red Dart (Holly Elissa), described as a “ruthless and precise killer,” Kodiak (Michael Jonsson), who comes with “brute force,” and Silencer (Miranda Edwards), who is referred to as a “master of stealth.”
“Arrow” season 7 will premiere next week. Check out how Oliver is doing in maximum security prison on Monday, Oct. 15, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
