‘Arrow’ Season 5, Episode 9 Spoilers: “What We Leave Behind” – Prometheus Hunts Down Oliver Queen, Team Arrow

‘Arrow’ season 5’s episode 9, entitled “What We Leave Behind,” will feature the villainous Prometheus as he hunts down Oliver Queen and the rest of Team Arrow after learning all their identities.

The synopsis for “What We Leave Behind” posted on Comic Book Movie reads, “After Prometheus attacks Curtis (Echo Kellum), Oliver (Stephen Amell) realizes Prometheus knows all of Team Arrow’s secret identities and is planning to come for them one by one.

Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and Detective Malone (guest star Tyler Ritter) discover a clue that links Prometheus to Oliver’s past.”

Episode 9’s promo reveals that Evelyn Sharp a.k.a. Artemis (Madison McLaughlin) has betrayed Team Arrow in favor of siding with Prometheus. She says, “We had a deal. I get to be there when you take him down.” However, villain reveals that he doesn’t plan to kill the Green Arrow saying, “I’m gonna wish he was dead.”

In the next scene, Oliver realizes that Prometheus knows his secret identity and will stop at nothing to get him. Prometheus threatens, “I know everything. Who you love, who you trust, who you’ve hurt.”

By the end of the promo, Oliver is shocked to learn that Evelyn is the traitor among his team. When he asks why she would betray them like that, she replies, “This city needs to be saved. From you.”

Executive producer Marc Guggenheim addressed Evelyn’s absence in the four way crossover episode of “Arrowverse” during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Guggenheim said, “It’s funny, to be honest with you, in the break of 508, we talked a lot about Do we have her in there? It felt like it was the elephant in the room and we didn’t want it distracting, so we don’t reference it in large part because I’m not a fan of, ‘Oh, it’s too bad that Evelyn’s mom is sick this week.’ I would prefer to just whistle past the graveyard.”

He continued, “I will say, you will get a payoff to 507’s cliffhanger with respect to Evelyn big time in 509.”

According to Variety, Guggenheim also revealed in a separate interview, “… going into Episode 9 you’ll see that Oliver has a new sense of purpose. The events in Episode 8 forced him to double-down on his mission, and also a reaffirmation of his bond with Thea — because they chose each other.”

‘Arrow’ season 5’s episode 9, entitled “What We Leave Behind,” is scheduled to air on The CW on December 7, 2016. It was directed by Antonio Negret and written by Wendy Mericle and Beth Schwartz. It will be followed by episode 10, entitled "Who Are You?," directed by Gregory Smith.
