Two questions – Do you like sneakers? Do you like ‘Back to the Future’?
If the answer to both of these questions is positive, then here is exciting news: Nike has teased fans with Tweet sent directly to Back to the Future actor Michael J Fox simply saying "see you tomorrow", Daily Star UK reported.
In the sequel to the original movie, October 21st, 2015 is the date that Marty McFly arrives in the future. Following the recent tweet, speculations are building up that this may also be the date that Nike finally releases a pair of power-lacing sneakers designed similar to the ones Marty wore in the movie.
The company filed the patent for self-lacing shoes back in 2009. Two years later it issued limited edition shoes based on Marty’s footwear for approximately $8,000, even though it lacked the self-lacing capability, Irish Times reported.
During an appearance in earlier this year, Nike designer Tinker Hatfield suggested that Marty McFly's futuristic shoes might be on their way.
He said: ”Are we gonna see power laces in 2015? To that, I say YES!"
While it is not certain that Nike will unveil its futuristic shoes today itself, but clearly some interesting news is on the way.
