“Alita: Battle Angel 2” is in demand and fans even set up a petition for its producers to do the sequel. There is no confirmation regarding the production of the movie yet but previous comments from James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez suggest that they have plans of doing the follow-up.
The good news is that fans may not be looking forward to just one but two movie sequels. This means that one more film is coming after the release of “Alita: Battle Angel 2” so it is actually a trilogy.
Plans for the trilogy
In an interview, director Robert Rodriguez revealed a lot of things about the movie including the possibilities for “Alita: Battle Angel 2” and a third one. He also mentioned that the first movie’s ending was actually set up for a sequel and in fact, there is a character that they would like to introduce in the next movie.
He said that Clive Lee was in the original script but was cut from the finished production. Rodriguez explained that they decided to save him for the “Alita: Battle Angel 2” and saying this is like, he is confirming the movie.
“We obviously have a plan for that and there's like one whole document about a trilogy," Rodriguez replied when asked about the sequel. "Because that's just part of his process. 'Here are three movies. Just so you know what to include in the first story and whatnot.'"

Storyline for the next movie
The idea for possible storyline for “Alita: Battle Angel 2” was taken from the original manga where the movie was based. The first film featured the stories from the first two volumes of the Japanese novel and from there it was predicted that the next chapters will make up the plot of the second movie installment.
In the manga, Alita became a Motorball star and working as a hunter warrior. However, she lost in the championship game against Jashugan then encountered serious trouble when Nova set her up to annihilate Zapan so that a recently-murdered Ido could be resurrected.
Finally, for what she’d done, “Alita: Battle Angel 2” is likely to show her being sentenced to death. But she would be saved by Zalem by giving her a new body and assigning tasks with the mission of killing Nova.
