To say that James Cameron really wants to make “Alita: Battle Angel 2” a reality would be an understatement. The “Avatar” director basically spent the better part of the last 20 years trying to bring the futuristic battle manga and anime to the big screen. This year, he succeeded with “Alita: Battle Angel,” and with the thousands of notes he left to the director, the sequel is good to go as well.
It’s worth pointing out that “Alita: Battle Angel” is not a typical movie in that it doesn’t cater to a lot of aspects that western viewers have gotten used to. This is why reviewers had such a hard time understanding what the movie was about. In “Alita: Battle Angel 2,” director Robert Rodriguez has a chance to make things right with the 600 pages of notes he was sent, Cinemablend reports.
These are not all of the pages that James Cameron has on hand, either. There are still hundreds more that he had yet to send to the director with whom he entrusted his passion project. One can only hope that these would go a long way toward making “Alita: Battle Angel 2” a reality. The franchise still has a lot of story to tell, after all.
As for who will be coming back if “Alita: Battle Angel 2” actually becomes a reality, Alita (Rosa Salazar) herself will be returning. Along with her will be Dr. Dyson Ido (Christoph Waltz) and most likely Nova (Edward Norton). There are a ton of plot details that have yet to be covered, as well, and the world itself has a lot of room for expansion.
With this being the case, there is much to gain with the greenlighting of “Alita: Battle Angel 2.” If it is approved this year, fans could watch the sequel when it comes out around late 2021 or early 2022.
