Rumors that Apple will release new true-wireless earbuds before 2019 ends were spreading through the entire month of October. Most of the information and photos that leaked about the device previously dubbed as AirPods 3 turned out to be true.
Apple announced the successor of AirPods 2 before October ended. However, instead of calling it the AirPods 3, it is now officially advertised as the AirPods Pro.
Apple announces AirPods Pro with specs and features rumored for ‘AirPods 3’
In the weeks leading to AirPods Pro’s announcement, various sources shared a leaked image that gave Apple fans the idea of what the new earbuds would look like. Unlike AirPods 2, the latest product from the company sports more defined design changes. It is much smaller and takes the form of in-ear buds completed with silicon tips that come in three sizes.
The design changes are also functional because it is related to the new feature in AirPods Pro that Apple calls the Active Noise Cancellation. Additionally, the silicon tips lock in with the main body of the earbuds. Apple also claims it follows the shape of the user’s ears, making it less prone to falling off.
The Active Noise Cancellation is a new feature that debuts along with the AirPods Pro. What’s interesting about Apple’s version of the noise-canceling tech is that it eliminates noise coming from outside and inside of the ear through outward and inward microphones. Both components emit an “anti-noise” mechanism, so the earbuds adapt to external and internal noises in a 200-times-per-second interval. In times that AirPods Pro users only want to lessen noises but still want to know or hear what’s happening around them, they can opt for the Transparency Mode.
AirPods 3 release date, price: How to get a pair of the new true-wireless earbuds?
Apple has also confirmed that the AirPods Pro is non-repairable. It means that once the device is broken or when its battery has degraded over time, the only choice is to buy a new pair. While it might sound unpractical, some tech fans believe that AirPods Pro’s unrepairable trait is due to its much smaller dimensions.
AirPods Pro will be sold worldwide, and orders can now be placed through the Apple website. The design improvements and upgrades come with a price, and it is $249, which is a $50 increase from the AirPods 2 price tag.
