Apple is highly anticipated to launch a refresh of its wireless earphones that is now widely dubbed as AirPods 3. The iPhone maker has yet to address the rumors, but the latest iOS 13 public beta appears to offer some confirmation that the rumored earphones are in the pipeline.
Operating system updates for iPhones have been reliable sources of information leaks regarding other devices that Apple is rumored to be developing. That is once again proven this week when the tech giant seeded the latest version of iOS 13.2 public beta, and it reportedly contains an image of AirPods 3’s new design.
AirPods 3 leaks: New design, noise-canceling feature confirmed?
As first reported in 9To5Mac, a glyph was spotted in the iOS 13.2 public beta files that appear to represent what AirPods 3 will look like. It was found within the accessibility settings that gave tech fans a hint that it could be the first look at Apple’s next iteration of wireless earphones.
Even in the glyph, some design changes can be observed in AirPods 3. Reports have likened it with Apple’s older product, the EarPods. It is also interesting that the glyph appears to support previously leaked images of reported prototypes of the wireless earphones.

In the same iOS 13.2 settings menu, it was also observed that new listening modes are listed. This adds weight to the ongoing rumor that AirPods 3’s main upgrade is a noise-canceling feature. The same report said one of the options is named Focus Mode.
AirPods 3 release date: Will it arrive this year?
Tech fans know that companies like Apple always plan way ahead of a product’s intended release date window. This explains why rumors about the specs and features of AirPods 3 have been circulating on the internet for a while now. However, this does not guarantee that the anticipated device will be released anytime soon.
The slew of AirPods 3 rumors lead some people to speculate that it could be announced in Apple’s anticipated unveiling event this month. However, it is important to note that the second generation of AirPods was just launched last March, and it is unlikely for Apple to have two new iterations of the same product released within less than a year.
