A casting call has put fans into a frenzy as it seems that Disney +'s upcoming Hawkeye show may address an injury to the titular character that so far has not been played out in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies.
Fans have been wondering when MCU would let Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye become deaf as he did in the comics.
In the comics, Hawkeye had become deaf when he used a sonic arrowhead. This, resulted to the Avenger relying on hearing aids, according to Science Fiction.
However, we have never seen this in any of the MCU movies nor was there ever a word that came out that Hawkeye would become deaf in the future.
However, Disney +'s Hawkeye might be different, according to Cinemablend.
Marvel Studios had sent out a casting call for an 18-year-old or older female who is deaf for a role in an upcoming series on Disney +.
This casting call could be for the role of Maya Lopez aka Echo, who is a character in the Daredevil and who is deaf.
Marvel has been known to put eager and inquisitive fans off the scent and we won't be surprised if this casting call is for something else.
First, one of the upcoming shows that Disney+ will be having is Hawkeye. There hasn't been any news of Echo getting her own show.
According to the casting call, filming will begin in the fall, exactly the same schedule for Hawkeye to start shooting as well.
Or, if indeed Marvel is not bluffing and the casting call is really for Echo, then perhaps Marvel is also close to addressing Hawkeye becoming deaf.
All of these are just speculations of course, and we won’t ever know until Hawkeye airs in 2021, that is if filming will get to start in the fall amidst the coronavirus pandemic that is still very much around.
