Dublin, Sept. 07, 2017 -- The "5G Technology and Solutions for IoT: Ecosystem Analysis, Market Outlook, and Forecasts 2020 - 2025" report has been added to Research and Markets' offering.
Non-Cellular RF Wireless Access Methods Will Have Severe Limitations for IoT as Compared to 5G in Terms of Capacity, Flexibility, Reliability, Security, and Stability
This research assesses 5G technologies and solutions in support of IoT. The report evaluates certain key solutions such as 5G enabled Mobile Edge Computing (MEC). The report also analyzes the impact of 5G in IoT across infrastructure components including hardware, processors, embedded devices, software, and cloud-based service platforms. The report includes detailed forecasts for the period 2020 to 2025.
Overwhelmingly, executives believe that the most important benefit of 5G will be support of Internet of Things (IoT) networks and systems. We see this as spot on given that 5G will enhance IoT significantly. Furthermore, it is believed that most leaders across many industry verticals will be willing to pay a premium for faster data speeds, enhanced flexibility, and improved capabilities associated with IoT on 5G networks. The use of 5G for Industrial IoT (IIoT) networks in particular will be of great importance to enterprise IIoT in certain industry verticals such as agriculture, logistics, and manufacturing.
One of the key challenges to overcome is spectrum allocation, which is a top concern for governments and regulatory bodies globally. A few bands in particular are under considerations such as 3.4GHz to 3.6GHz in China, 4.4 GHz to 4.9GHz in Japan, and other countries are thinking about 39GHz. While IoT will only use certain aspects of 5G, and not make use of the entire spectrum allocated, 5G launch as a whole is predicated on resolving allocation among other issues. While only a small percentage of Communication Service Providers (CSP) will launch 5G by 2020, it is still an important year to watch and the base year for this study as it marks the start of commercial deployment as well as IoT integration with 5G for CSPs.
