Zimbabwe to host first Blockchain Summer School event

Zimbabwe will open its first Blockchain Summer School from 22-25 November 2016, which is an event to educate and explore the benefits of bitcoin and will have discussions on the challenges following cryptocurrency adoption in Africa.

The event is being organized by Zimbabwe-based Bitcoin exchange company BitFinance and Blockchain Academy. It is aimed at address local businesses, which have been hit hardest by the current financial crisis in Zimbabwe.

“Zimbabwe is the hardest country in the world to do international transfers, online payments or get access to credit in real terms and many people are looking towards bitcoin as a solution. We decided to run this event because we saw a significant and growing number of requests from people who wanted to use Bitcoin but they didn’t know how to get started or how it works,” Tawanda Kembo, growth hacker at Bitfinance said, as reported by cointelegraph.

The event will see eminent speakers in the industry including Adam Meister, The Bitcoinmeister; Sinclair Skinner, CEO and co-founder of BitMari; Simbarashe Machiridza, Lawyer at Bitfinance; among others. The event will have panels on ‘Understanding the Legal & Regulatory Implications of Bitcoin/Blockchain Technology’, ‘The future of bitcoin/Blockchain technology regulation: Protecting consumers but without stifling innovation’, ‘Bitcoin and the man on the street’, ‘Building a better infrastructure for cross-border payments’, among others.

The registrations for the event are open and are priced at $199, $39 and $ 69, depending upon the number of days, one wish to attend.
