Zcash Private Transactions Set for Speed Boost with New Cryptography Toolkit

Open-source encryption toolkit Zakura Common, introduced by Zcash developers, promises to greatly cut down the time needed for generating shielded transactions. In many cases, this library speeds the on-device cryptographic processes needed to create shielded transactions, therefore lowering wallet processing times from more than three seconds to under 200 milliseconds. Significantly, this upgrade lets compatible wallets integrate the changes on their own and does not require a hard fork or network upgrade.

Benchmarks indicate more than a 5x increase on desktop and more than a 14x speed improvement for mobile proof generation, therefore these performance improvements are significant. From 4x to almost 21x quicker, hashing and proof verification also show great acceleration. The "under 200ms" claim especially targets the transaction-creation phase on the user's device, offering a more seamless experience by significantly reducing local wait time before a transaction is ready for network broadcasting.

Following the announcement, Zcash (ZEC) experienced about a 5% increase, some market watchers underlining the speed improvement as a main use for daily private payments. Though ultimate transaction confirmation times will still depend on network spread and block inclusion, the notable decrease in local processing time is seen as a big step forward for Zcash adoption and user experience.
