‘Westworld’ Season 3 Air Date, Spoilers: Showrunners Tease About New Installment’s ‘Radical Shift’

“Westworld” season 3 is already confirmed even as the second season just ended in June. The finale was explosive as two of the main robot revolutionaries, Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) and Bernard (Jeffrey Wright), are now considered enemies who managed to escape to the real world.

With their escape from Westworld, the two of them will work on preserving the race but it will not be as easy as they think. Moreover, now that they are outside of the Wild-West-themed amusement park, showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are ready to explore uncharted territory. So, how will this new setting affect “Westworld” season 3?

Plot Changes

With the new territory, “Westworld” season 3 will not be like the previous installments. Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy divulged that it will not look like anything the viewers have already seen in the series.

When the third season rolls out, it will be a whole lot different. As the married showrunners told The Hollywood Reporter earlier this week, “It's a radical shift. What's compelling and appealing about these characters is that they're not human.”

“You couldn't expect human characters to withstand and survive the kind of story that we're telling,” Nolan further said. “The hosts have a different version of mortality, a different outlook. They're existential. They span eons. And that's a fascinating level of story to engage in.”

Lisa Joy summarized what her husband was trying to explain, “It really is like repiloting.” So, yes, this means they will be giving “Westworld” season 3 a fresh start.

Cast

“Westworld” season 3 is expected to return with the same cast members and some who are already confirmed to reprise their roles are Evan Rachel Wood (Dolores Abernathy) and Thandie Newton (Maeve Millay). On the other hand, Ed Harris (Man in Black), Tessa Thompson (Charlotte Hale), Jimmi Simpson (William), James Marsden (Teddy Flood) and Jeffrey (Wright Bernard Lowe) are likely to be in the third installment as well.

Air Date

As per The Wrap, the “Westworld” season 3 air date is not available at this time since production has not even started yet. But fans should not worry because the team and HBO are surely working on it.

However, it is said that it may premiere sometime in 2020 as HBO’s exec Casey Bloys said that they will air the third season of “Westworld” when the “Game of Thrones” series ends its run.
