Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) is inking a deal to fully own the NBC Sports Washington regional sports network (RSN).
MSE, the owner of the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Washington Wizards and National Hockey League’s (NHL) Washington Capitals, has held a 33 percent share in the RSN since 2016.
The remaining 67 percent is held by Comcast-owned media giant NBC.
NBC Sports Washington is the local broadcast partner for the NBA and NHL franchises, airing live coverage across the District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, and West Virginia.
The acquisition is still subject to regulatory approval.
The RSN also covers MSE's other properties, including the WNBA's Washington Mystics, the NBA G League's Capital City Go-Go, and the NBA 2K League's Wizards District Gaming esports team.
RSN has also aired local broadcasts for the National Football League's (NFL) Washington Commanders when they play on the national commercial network on Sunday nights.
