U.S. under Trump Series: Dollar under Pressure as special counsel Mueller subpoenas Trump campaign for more documents

The U.S. dollar index came under pressure on the last trading day of the week as reports surfaced that special counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating any possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia has subpoenaed the Trump campaign for more documents.

The report first came out in Wall Street Journal that special counsel Mueller subpoenaed more than dozen Trump campaign officials last month calling for more information. Market is worried over the need of the Subpoenas as President Trump and campaign officials have said over and over again that they are voluntarily complying with the ongoing probe, though the President has called the probe as hoax, false, fake which is being used as a political tool by Democrats, who failed to accept the humiliating 2016 election defeat.

Neither the White House nor a spokesperson for the special counsel responded immediately to a request for comment from reporters on Thursday night after the news broke out.
