US presidential candidate Clinton voices her support to blockchain technology

Blockchain technology continues to get support from prominent figures and experts across multiple industries. The latest one to vouch for this innovative technology is Hillary Clinton, who is expected to receive the presidential nomination from the US Democratic Party soon, CoinDesk reported.

A recently released Tech & Innovation Agenda has explained Clinton’s vision that aims to harness the power of technology and innovation so as to benefit all citizens of the United States. The agenda has five key parts:

  • Building the tech economy on Main Street

  • Investing in world-class digital infrastructure

  • Advancing America’s global leadership in tech & innovation

  • Setting rules of the road to promote innovation while protecting privacy

  • Smarter and more innovative government

While explaining the plan to advance the country’s global leadership in technology and innovation, it emphasized on the need to position American innovators to lead the world in the sphere of emerging technologies including blockchain.

“We must position American innovators to lead the world in the next generation of technology revolutions –from autonomous vehicles to machine learning to public service blockchain applications –and we must defend universal access to the global, digital marketplace of ideas. But we face challenges to both of these goals. There is fierce global competition in the global tech economy”, the agenda read.

It also noted that Clinton has always been supportive of internet freedom and advancing technological innovation as part of foreign policy. The document also highlighted that Clinton recognizes the important role the government has to play in laying a foundation for broad-based innovation and economic growth—by reducing regulatory barriers to entry, promoting healthy competition, and ensuring our IP laws effectively reward creators while allowing for additional experimentation.

“Hillary will challenge state and local governments to identify, review, and reform legal and regulatory obligations that protect legacy incumbents against new innovators”, it added.
