Turkish sectoral confidence indices rise in January

Turkish sector confidence indices rose in the month of January. According to the Turkish Statistical Institute, the seasonally adjusted confidence index rose 2.2 percent in services as well as retail trade sectors. In the construction sector, the confidence index rose 14.6 percent in January on a sequential basis.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the services confidence index rose 2.2 percent to 95.2 from December’s 93.2. Sequentially, demand-turnover expectation over next three months index rose 1.1 percent to 101.6. Business situation over past three months and demand-turnover over past three months indices rose 2.6 percent and 3 percent to 92.2 and 91.9, respectively.

Meanwhile, the retail trade confidence index rose 2.2 percent in January to 105. Within the retail trade sector the current volume of stock index rose 1.7 percent to 111.1. Business activity-sales expectation over the next three months and business activity-sales in the last three months indices rose 3.8 percent and 1.3 percent to 105.7 and 98.1, respectively.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, construction confidence index rose 14.6 percent to 78.9. Within construction, total employment expectation over next three months index rose 4.6 percent to 93.3. The current overall order books index rose 33 percent to 64.6.
