Turkish industrial production growth eases in June

Turkish industrial production eased in the month of June to the weakest since December 2016. On a year-on-year basis, industrial production rose 3.2 percent, as compared with the 6.5 percent growth recorded in May. Within the sub sector of the industrial sector, mining and quarrying index rose 7.2 percent. Manufacturing index rose 2.9 percent, while electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index were up 4.6 percent in June 2018 on a year-on-year basis.

On a sequential basis, industrial output dropped 2 percent in June. Within sub sectors, mining and quarrying index dropped 5.1 percent and manufacturing index fell 2.2 percent electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index rose 2.1 percent in June sequentially.

In the second quarter as a whole, Turkish industrial production rose 5.3 percent year-on-year. The seasonally and calendar adjusted industrial production dropped 0.7 percent quarter-on-quarter.
