Turkish industrial production grows sharply in December

Turkish industrial production rose sharply in December. According to the Turkish Statistical Institute, the industrial production output rose 8.6 percent year-on-year, as compared with prior month’s year-on-year rise of 5.1 percent. Looking at the subsectors, mining and quarrying index rose 9.8 percent annually. Meanwhile, the manufacturing index rose 9.1 percent. The electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index rose 0.3 percent year-on-year.

On a sequential basis, the industrial production rose 1.9 percent, as compared with prior month’s rise of 0.7 percent monthly. The mining and quarrying subsector recorded a rise of 4.1 percent. Meanwhile, manufacturing index rose 1.9 percent. Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index rose 0.8 percent month-on-month.

In the fourth quarter, the industrial production rose 5.8 percent year-on-year. On a seasonally and calendar adjusted industrial production rose 1.5 percent quarter-on-quarter.
