Turkish economic confidence index rose in the month of January. The Turkish Statistical Institute showed that the economic sentiment rose 0.6 percent to 97.1 in January from December’s 96.5. The rise in economic sentiment index was driven by the rises recorded in the consumer, services, retail trade and construction confidence indices.

Construction confidence index rose the most in the month, recording a rise of 14.6 percent to 78.9 from December’s print of 68.9. The consumer confidence index rose 0.1 percent to 58.8, as compared with the prior month’s fall of 1.9 percent.

The services confidence index rose 2.2 percent in January to 95.2, rising from December’s figure of 93.2. The retail trade confidence index also rose 2.2 percent in the month to 105 from 102.6 seen in the prior month.

On the other hand, the real sector confidence index was the only one to record a fall. The index fell 2.1 percent to 106.4 in January from December’s 108.7.
