The Turkish consumer sentiment index dropped in the month of March. The Turkish Statistical Institute showed that the consumer confidence index fell 1.3 percent sequentially to 71.3 from February’s 72.3. The financial situation expectation of household index fell 0.7 percent sequentially to 90.6.
The consumer confidence index calculated from the results of the consumer tendency survey carried out in cooperation with the Turkish Statistical Institute and Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey decreased by 1.3% compared to the previous month. The index became 71.3 in March while it was 72.3 in February.
Financial situation expectation index realized as 90.6 in March. The fall resulted from the decrease of consumers expecting better financial situation of household in the next 12 months period.
The general economic situation expectation index fell 1.7 percent in March to 95.1 from February’s 96.8. The decline stemmed from the fall of consumers expecting a better general economic situation in the next 12 months compared to the earlier month.
The number of people unemployed expectation index fell 2.4 percent compared to the previous month and came in at 73.5 in March. This fall was driven by the decrease of people expecting a decrease in the number of unemployed persons in the next 12 months.
The probability of saving index rose 1.2 percent to 26 in March. The rise resulted from the decrease of consumers who expressed no probability of saving for the next 12 months period.
