“The Rookie” is surely garnering a lot of attention after an impressive premiere on Tuesday, and with Nathan Fillion playing the lead role as Officer John Nolan, the crime drama series should continue to draw audiences in the weeks to come. Now that the premiere is out of the way, viewers must be wondering what is in store for Nolan and the rest of the guys at the Los Angeles Police Department in “The Rookie” Episode 2.
According to the official synopsis of “The Rookie” Episode 2, Talia (Afton Williamson) is going to put Nolan on the spot and force him to confront his moral instincts after an encounter with a kidnapping victim. Well, Talia’s obviously not picking on him because he’s a rookie cop. She has Nolan’s best interest in mind, and she thinks this will make him a better cop.
Titled “Crash Course,” the episode will also feature Lucy (Melissa O'Neil) placed with a new training officer who she has a hard time getting along with. Meanwhile, Jackson (Titus Makin) will have to confront his failures in order to become an officer.
In other news, Fillion recently spoke with the Hollywood Reporter and he explained why he decided to join the project. “It was the pitch. You want a character you feel you can serve — you can serve the character, serve the story. Being in the business as long as I have, I’ve broadened my scope. And the core idea of the show, it has to be something strong enough to carry it a number of years. You want the potential for more. You don’t want to hit a roadblock where you’ve run out of stories because our engine isn’t built that way.”
The crime drama series created by Alexi Hawley is fairly new, but with a strong cast “The Rookie” is definitely worth a look. “The Rookie” Episode 2 will air on Tuesday, Oc. 23 at 10 p.m. ET on The ABC Television Network.
