Fans waiting for “The OA” season 2 are still kept in the dark about its release date. But a recent interview with Jason Isaacs might shed some light about the return of the series.
Isaacs attended the 72nd British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) on Feb. 10 where he shared his thoughts about “The OA” season 2’s potential release date. And while he was not at liberty to give specific details, he certainly encouraged fans to keep on waiting as the premiere might be happening soon.
“That's very nearly… I'm not allowed to say. I can't even finish that sentence but you won't be holding your breath too long… It has been a while coming but it's quality and I think it's exquisite and unparalleled in its imagination and it'll be worth the wait. But it won't be too long, the wait,” the actor told Hello! Magazine about “The OA” season 2.
The actor, who plays Hunter Aloysius "Hap" Percy on the Netflix series, was keen on not revealing any details about the premiere date of “The OA” season 2. When asked whether Netflix will just release the second installment without many prior promotional efforts (like season 1), the actor had a limited reply. Isaacs only said, “Yeah well I think… keep checking your Netflix."

Most Netflix Original contents come up with a new season every year but it was not the case for this series created by Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij. The first eight episodes dropped in December 2016 but the filming of “The OA” season 2 only began in January 2018.
Marling, who also plays the titular protagonist, previously explained why “The OA” season 2 is taking this much time to finish. “We also aren’t an adaptation. So we are drawing from just our imaginations every time we go to write a new part … Finally, because I’m both the lead actor and a lead writer we can’t leap-frog the production,” Marling wrote on Instagram. While details are still scarce, a recent social media post from the showrunner/cast member indicates a big possibility that “The OA” season 2 will premiere in 2019.
