Talks on Greece likely to continue after Easter

The Eurogroup Working Group, the preparatory body of euro area finance ministers, held a conference call on Greece yesterday to examine a fresh list of economic reforms sent by the Greek government. The Greek government hopes that this list will help unlock the disbursement of the €7.2bn instalment under the remaining troika tranches that are currentlyfrozen.

Press reports suggest that EU officials consider that this list does not address the Troika's concerns about privatisations, the necessary overhaul of the Greek pension system and labour market deregulation, where proposal tends to undo previous changes.

"As a result, the bargaining process is likely to continue after Easter and it is not sure that the Eurogroup can take any decision before the next scheduled meeting (24 April)", says Societe Generale.
