Swedish home prices rise sequentially in October

Swedish home prices rose sequentially in October. On a monthly basis, prices were up 0.4 percent, according to HOX Valueguard. In Stockholm, apartment prices were up 0.7 percent sequentially, which is higher compared to the expectations of unchanged prices. In the past 12 months, home prices have dropped 1.5 percent and apartment prices in Stockholm fell 2.6 percent.

Since the beginning of this year, home prices have stayed stable at 0.4 percent. Apartment prices in Stockholm are slightly up since January. Nevertheless, home prices are still 4.5 percent below the top levels that were registered in August 2017.

The fall in the autumn was partially because of FSA’s announcement of an additional amortization requirement, which entered into force in March 2018. A larger supply of new homes is another factor that added to the price fall.
