"Suits" season 8 just premiered last July 18 with its first episode “Right-Hand Man” to a good start. Massive cast changes have put the legal drama series into unexplored territory with its eighth season, with a number of the original cast members departing the show in season 7.
The loss of Patrick J. Adams, Meghan Markle, and Gina Torres from the show has undermined the stability of what fans can expect from the current character dynamics. The spaces left by Adams, Markle, and Torres' departure have been filled by Amanda Schull, portraying previously recurring character Katrina Bennett; Dulé Hill, who plays Alex Williams; and the newest debuting character in season 8, Katherine Heigl, playing Samantha Wheeler. While the show's replacements seem to be a solid cast of characters, with seasoned actors behind them, they still have big shoes to fill for the rest of the season.
In an interview with Deadline, “Suits” creator Aaron Korsh clarified that the new cast members introduced in “Suits” season 8 were not meant to replace the holes left by the original cast members. Korsh talked about developing a different relationship dynamic between the new characters and the long-time cast members. Korsh also confirmed that some familiar faces will be back for “Suits” season 8. Dr. Lipschitz, Litt's psychotherapist played by Ray Proscia; Gretchen Bodinski, Litt's executive assistant played by Aloma Wright; and Shiela Sazs, Litt's ex-fiance played by Rachael Harris, will all be returning as friendly faces the fans can enjoy in the eighth season.
Unfortunately, the creator also confirms that Dana Scott, Harvey Specter's longtime star-crossed lover played by Abigail Spencer, won't be coming back anytime soon as Specter's love life will be put on hold to give space for the other characters' developments.
"Suits" season 8's next episode is scheduled to air on July 25.
