“Steven Universe” season 6 has been confirmed by Rebecca Sugar in October when they appeared at the New York Comic Con. As a gift to the fans, the show creator and panel present at the event also revealed bits of spoilers on what can be expected in the upcoming season.

The official announcement of “Steven Universe” season 6 was a big relief to the fans because it has been rumored before that the series ended with the fifth season’s finale “Change Your Mind.” Another speculation was that the “Steven Universe: The Movie” was a replacement to the sixth season so the confirmation during the recent NYCC was really good news to the avid fans.

Here’s what to expect when the new season arrives

“Steven Universe” season 6 has been renamed so when it premieres it will be called “Steven Universe Future.” The reason for the title change is obvious, Steven has grown and he is now heading to his future as a more mature person or gem.

“After saving the universe, Steven is still at it, tying up every loose end,” the synopsis for “Steven Universe” season 6 reads according to TV Guide. “But as he runs out of other people’s problems to solve, he’ll finally have to face his own.”

It can be said that this is Steven’s coming-of-age arc but he will be more powerful and more mature this time. After finding out that he is a Pink Diamond, he begins to understand himself more and wants to prove to everyone that he is nothing like his mother.

Release date announcement

“Steven Universe” season 6 a.k.a. “Steven Universe Future" is set to be debut on Dec. 7 on Cartoon Network. Fans would be thrilled to know that it will air with back-to-back four new episodes at 8 p.m. ET.

As per the press release that was also posted on Broadway World, the favorite animated series will return after the success of its first movie version that was released in September. “Haunted by the past and lost in the present, Steven begins manifesting new, uncontrollable powers that the Crystal Gems have never seen from him before,” the statement reads.
