‘Sleepy Hollow’ Season 4, Episode 13 Spoilers: “Freedom” – Ichabod, Team Witness Deal with Dreyfuss, Four Horsemen of Apocalypse

‘Sleepy Hollow’ season 4’s episode 13, titled “Freedom,” will follow Ichabod and the rest of Team Witness as they attempt to stop Dreyfuss and the Four Horsemen of Apocalypse in a final battle.

The synopsis for episode 13 posted on TV Guide reads, “In the Season 4 finale, Dreyfuss (Jeremy Davies) finally has enough power to infiltrate the White House, and his group of minions now has the strength to take action, so it's up to Team Witness to stop him once and for all.”

It seems that it will be up to Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) and the rest of Team Witness to stop Malcolm Dreyfuss and his minions from successfully wreaking havoc once they’ve managed to infiltrate the White House.

The previous episode, titled “Tomorrow,” found Jenny (Lyndie Greenwood) leading an underground assistance against the enemy. She managed to locate Ichabod after confronting Dreyfuss and learned the truth about her mother in the process.

She then traveled back in time by way of the Grand Grimoire in order to prevent Dreyfuss’ rise to power. Meanwhile, Diana (Janina Gavankar) and Lara (Seychelle Gabriel) returned to the Vault upon witnessing Ichabod’s transformation into the Horseman of War. Lara then entered Ichabod’s psyche to help him reject War’s hold over him.

Ichabod eventually defeated the Hessans while the newly resurrected Henry Parrish (John Noble) met with Dreyfuss and Jobe (Kamar de los Reyes) to take his father’s place as the Horseman of War.

During an interview with TV Line, co-showrunner Albert Kim expounded on Henry’s return to the show. When asked about their decision to bring Noble’s character back, Kim replied, “There’s two parts to that question. One is the simple, logical mechanics of how you bring back a character who’s died on the show.”

He continued, “We knew we wanted John Noble back; it was something we’ve been thinking about since the beginning of the season. And especially as we got closer to the end of this season, and we saw where our story and thematic threads were leading, they all have to do with family. This show has always been about family, and Henry is an important part of that, obviously.”

When pressed for details about the upcoming finale episode, Kim teased, “It’s the first time we see the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse in action in the real world. They are actually, for the first time, galloping on Earth. We see how powerful they are and what they can do. That represents, essentially, the ultimate challenge for our team.”

He added, “It’s something that, not even back in Seasons 1 and 2, that Crane and Abbie had faced. They had one or two of the horsemen, but this is the full team riding, and under Dreyfuss’ control. So that’s a big thing, just in terms of action and plot… [Also],  you’ll learn why the motto of our country is “E pluribus unum.””

‘Sleepy Hollow’ season 4’s episode 13, titled “Freedom,” is scheduled to air on Fox on March 31, 2017. It was directed by Russell Fine and written by M. Raven Metzner.
