‘Scream Queens’ Season 2 Cast, Updates: Lea Michele Channels Hannibal Lecter in New Trailer; Taylor Lautner Shares Photograph While Filming in California

‘Scream Queens’ season 2 star Lea Michele channeled infamous villain Hannibal Lecter in the newly released trailer. New cast member Taylor Lautner also shared a new photograph of himself and co-star Billie Lourd while filming in California.

According to USA Today, the new promo for the incoming season of ‘Scream Queens’ featured Lea Michele’s Hester Ulrich channeling Hannibal Lecter from ‘Silence of the Lambs’. The actress was seen towards the end of the trailer wearing Hannibal’s infamous mask as Emma Roberts’ Chanel Oberlin looks on in fright.

Season 2 will be set in a hospital and will feature new changes in its storytelling. Executive producer Ian Brennan revealed during a panel in the San Diego Comic-Con, “I think it’s bloodier and funnier… I feel like we’re leaning into the creepiness a little more and the comedy a little more.”

The incoming season will be set three years after the events of the first and will be moving from the Kappa Kappa Tau house to a mental institution turned into hospital owned by Dean Munsch (Jamie Lee Curtis). Zayday (Keke Palmer) will be studying to be a doctor while the Chanels will attempt to reclaim their status in society after having gone broke.

Although Hester was revealed to be the brains behind the Red Devil team in season 1’s ‘The Final Girls’, the incoming season will feature an entirely new main villain. Other returning cast members include Abigail Breslin as Libby, Billie Lourd as Sadie, Glen Powell as Chad.

According to Access Hollywood, Lee expressed her enthusiasm over returning for a second season.  She said during the recent Fox portion of the Television Critics Association Summer Tour, "I love the idea that Ryan [Murphy, 'Scream Queens' Executive Producer] and company felt like they'd said what they had to say with the sorority and that they wanted something new.”

She added, "And, as we've started shooting, all of us have said… we'd be so bored if we we're back at Kappa House. So I do feel like this is a really smart, interesting, very clever idea of changing up the location, even though the characters are the same. So bringing in a couple doctors has been very fun."

John Stamos of ‘Full House’ fame and Taylor Lautner of ‘Twilight’ fame will be joining the new cast as doctors Brock Holt and Cassidy Cascade, respectively. Roberts revealed, "John and Taylor are doctors and they also play some of our love interests. There's been some kissing happening, which has been fun. And yeah, we love having them.”

According to Just Jared, Lautner recently shared a photograph of himself and co-star Billie Lourd while filming in Malibu, California. It was captioned, “Lourd and Laut trapped in a Pasadena hospital.. #screamqueens #lourdandlaut” Other photographs released showed Lautner catching some waves on his boogie board during some down time in between filming.

‘Scream Queens’ is a black comedy and horror television series created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuck, and Ian Brennan for Fox. It is produced under 20th Century Fox Television, Ryan Murphy Productions, Brad Falchuck Teley-vision, and Prospect Films. Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on September 20, 2016.
