SAP to officially sponsor Blockchain Africa Conference

Bitcoin Events Pty Ltd will be hosting the Blockchain Africa Conference that will be held in Johannesburg on 1-3 March 2017. It announced that SAP, a market leader in enterprise application software, will be on board as an official sponsor for the event.

SAP has been working on blockchain technologies, including Ethereum and the Bitcoin blockchain. Darrel Orsmond, Industry Head for Financial Services at SAP Africa will discuss on although blockchain is just emerging, how its potential is unlimited for reimagining business and industries.

"We see the Blockchain Africa Conference 2017 as an opportunity to collaborate and network with like-minded business people on a topic that is at the forefront of today’s technology changes. We want to help businesses and our customers to re-envision their business operating model and the potential impact of Blockchain. Blockchain is a great way to get them to rethink and re-imagine how a business or industry operates. This means we need to think broadly about change. When it comes to simplifying platforms and connecting the dots on these new business models, SAP has the platforms to make this happen," Darrel stated in a release.

SAP has developed a cloud platform called Hana that allows its customers to connect blockchain to the platform and thus provides an online database, where its customers can include new functions to their SAP systems. The event will explore many blockchain and digital currency opportunities in use cases including identity, payments, remittances, smart contracts, Blockchain-as-a-Service, among others.

SAP is a German-based multinational software corporation that makes enterprise software to manage business operations and customer relations.
