Korean Air Lines Co. and Asiana Airlines Inc. will offer non-scheduled flights to India next month to bring home South Koreans residing there.
Asiana plans to provide four flights while Korean Air will offer one flight to the South Asian country, which has reported over 200,000 coronavirus deaths.
The non-scheduled flights by South Korea's two biggest carriers are subject to the approval of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport.
The two airlines may provide more non-scheduled flights to India depending on demands.
Korean Air suspended flights to India since March 2020 due to entry restrictions to stem the virus surge while Asiana stopped offering in July 2019 before the pandemic.
Passenger jets from India that are bound for Incheon, South Korea are required to occupy less than 60 percent of their seats, and the proportion of South Koreans needs to exceed 90 percent.
