Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has warned that Russia is preparing a major new attack on Ukraine, citing intelligence reports that indicate plans for a large-scale military strike. The announcement comes as tensions continue to rise between the two countries amid ongoing conflict and escalating cross-border attacks.
In a message posted on Telegram, Zelenskiy said Ukrainian intelligence agencies had obtained information suggesting that Russia is planning another significant offensive. He later reinforced the warning during his nightly video address, stating that Ukrainian defense forces are fully prepared to respond to any new threat.
According to Zelenskiy, Ukraine’s military and air defense units remain on high alert and are operating around the clock to protect the country from potential missile and drone attacks. He emphasized that the Air Force and other defense personnel are ready to react swiftly to any escalation.
The warning follows recent statements from Russia indicating that it intends to carry out what it described as “systematic strikes” against targets in Kyiv. Russian officials also advised foreign nationals and diplomats to leave the Ukrainian capital, fueling concerns about a possible intensification of military operations.
Moscow said its planned actions were a response to a drone attack on a dormitory in the Russian-controlled Luhansk region of eastern Ukraine. Russian authorities reported that the strike killed 21 people. Ukraine, however, denied responsibility for the attack.
The conflict has already seen renewed violence in recent days. Russian missile and drone strikes launched against Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine last Sunday reportedly killed two people and left dozens more injured, according to local authorities.
Zelenskiy used his latest statement to call on international partners to increase pressure on Russia through additional sanctions. He also urged allies to accelerate the implementation of previously agreed air defense support measures, arguing that delays could weaken Ukraine’s ability to protect civilians and critical infrastructure.
As the war continues, concerns are growing over the possibility of another large-scale Russian offensive, with Ukrainian officials closely monitoring developments and strengthening national defense capabilities.
