OKWave partners with Breadwallet to offer Bitcoin services

Japanese Q&A site OKWave has announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Bitcoin wallet Breadwallet, in order to provide Bitcoin related services on the platform.

With the integration of Breadwallet Bitcoin wallet application into OKWave platform, users will be able to perform bitcoin transactions, NewsBTC reported.

"We are very pleased to enter into a strategic partnership with OKWAVE to help enhance the use of bitcoin on the OKWAVE.JP website. Leveraging breadwallet's ease of use and security, together we can help bring benefits to users of OKWAVE and bitcoin within Japan and beyond”, said Adam Traidman, Breadwallet President.

In addition to the integration of Breadwallet services, the partnership agreement also includes a “capital alliance agreement” where a portion of the newly created third party shares of the company will be allocated to Breadwallet.

“OKWAVE and breadwallet are taking great steps together to make Bitcoin useful in everyone's daily lives”, said Roger Ver, Bread wallet adviser and bitcoin evangelist.

With 45 million users as of 2015, OKWave is one of the top 150 websites in Japan, according to Alexa, Brave New Coin reported. As of July 2015, the company had ¥979 million in capital and has the likes of Microsoft Corporation and Rakuten Inc. among its shareholders. Founded in 1999, OKWave has been listed on the Nagoya Stock Exchange since June 2006.

San Francisco-based venture and Bitcoin company Breadwallet LLC enables users for local storing, sending, and receiving bitcoins on the iPhone and Android platforms. Breadwallet is the first full Bitcoin wallet admitted to the Apple store and is counted among the most popular wallets on the platform.

“Unlike other iPhone wallets, breadwallet is a real standalone bitcoin client. There is no server to get hacked or go down, so you can always access your money”, the website reads.
