“The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” is one of the most hotly anticipated AAA titles that are scheduled for release in 2017. To fuel the hype, Nintendo has released several teasers just to showcase what players have to look forward to, which include Rune abilities, unique weapons, and what “Link” can do with them.
“Breath of the Wild” is not only one of the few games that Nintendo is banking on to help them generate the revenue that they have lost in recent years, it is also one of the last major titles to be released for the Wii U, BGR reports. As such, it’s only natural that the Japanese video game company would do everything in its power to raise the buzz around the game as loud as possible.
One of the ways it is doing this is by slowly releasing little details about the game, such as the Rune abilities that players will use in the title. These Runes are collected by “Link” as he progresses through the game and he can use them to unlock puzzles and interact with the world accordingly.
Among the recently unveiled Runes is the “Cryonis Rune,” which creates ice pillars, “Magnesis Rune” for grabbing things with, “Round Bomb” for blowing things up with, and “Statis Rune” for locking things in place with. These abilities are reminiscent of older installments in the franchise, with upgraded animations and object interactions.

Some of the weapons that will be used in the game have also been unveiled via a short video, including a great axe, a broad sword, and a fire wand. Gamespot noted how the animations for the weapons look similar to that of games like “Monster Hunter” and the dark franchise “Dark Souls” in terms of how “Link” wields them. Considering the popularity of those games, Nintendo might just have a golden goose on their hands.
