Migrant crisis: Iron Chancellor’s iron will and single plan

When the Migrant crisis came into focus, we strongly suggested to our readers this crisis is likely to reshape Europe, more than it did during the debt crisis and it would also make the immigration key arguments in Britain/EU deal. Well, that happened, however we, FxWirePro fundamental, will have to confess we didn't foresee the chair tumbling of Angela Merkel, Europe's Iron Chancellor.

Now that is a clear possibility. There is quite high odds (1 in 3) that Merkel era is coming to an end and in the next election. Nevertheless we remain admirer of her will and vision. We guess so does many, otherwise she wouldn't be Times and Financial Times' "Person of the Year" in 2015. Europe clearly played its part along US, which has led to unrest in Middle East leading to history's one of biggest migration. So it is should also play its part in this refugee crisis. While many are crumbling in the face of this massive influx of people, predominantly Muslims, Chancellor is maintaining her Iron stance of open door policy.

Speaking on a talk show on Germany's ARD TV, Ms. Merkel said rejects proposals backed by many in Germany to introduce upper limit on migration. She said, her stance remains even 81% of Germans feel her government has lost control over this issue. She also indicated her iron will that there is nothing that would make her change the current course and she is not looking for any plan B. However she recognized, this is the worst crisis in her last 10 year tenure, greater than the debt driven one back in 2011/12.

Her current plan involves, singular pan European plan, aiding Turkey with as much as €3 billion to stem flow, improve conditions of migrant camps in Turkey, stricter external border control of Europe, crack down human trafficking and scheme to resettle migrants, pan Europe.

Recent border controlling by some countries have reduced migrant flows to Germany but it is leading to thousands of migrants getting trapped in Greece. She criticized such moves as anti-European.

"We didn't keep Greece in the euro in order to leave it in the lurch like that. That is not my Europe"

Next EU summit is scheduled for March 7th, which will also be joined by Turkey.
