Metaplanet's Bold Bitcoin Blitz: Aiming for 1% of All BTC by 2027

Metaplanet, which is a Bitcoin company in Japan, wants to buy a lot of Bitcoin. They want to have 210,000 Bitcoin by the end of 2027. This is a lot of Bitcoin, 1% of all the Bitcoin that exists. Now Metaplanet already has over 30,000 Bitcoin. They got this Bitcoin because they worked hard to meet their goal for 2025. They initially aimed to have 10,000 Bitcoin by the end of 2025 and 21,000 Bitcoin by 2026. They did even better than that. Metaplanet is really focused on buying Bitcoin. They want to have a lot of it. They are trying to get Bitcoin, which is why they have a big goal to get 210,000 Bitcoin by 2027. This "555 Million Plan" positions Metaplanet as a major player, potentially the second-largest public BTC holder behind MicroStrategy, viewing Bitcoin as a key hedge against yen weakness and economic pressures.

The money for this comes from some smart ways of getting investments. This includes something called moving-strike warrants, where they issued 555 million of them. They think this will bring in around 5.4 billion dollars. They are also selling stocks to people in other countries and giving special shares to big investors from overseas.

They got money at the end of 2025. This money was used to buy Bitcoin and make the company stronger. They did this in a way that did not hurt the people who already had investments in the company. Funding from these investments, like the moving-strike warrants and international stock offerings, is helping the company to grow and buy Bitcoin. The moving-strike warrants and other investments are a part of the company's plan to get more funding.

The strategy incorporates BTC-backed financing, with a $500 million credit facility secured against its holdings—drawing around $230 million to date—for further purchases, options strategies, and potential share buybacks. Recent shareholder approvals in December 2025 expanded preferred share capacity, introduced variable dividends, and enhanced governance to attract global capital while advancing the long-term BTC treasury vision.
