Mars Wrigley announces Left and Right TWIX NFTs

Photo by: Mars Wrigley Press Release

Mars Wrigley announced it would be offering a non-fungible token (NFT) based on one of its TWIX chocolates. The American confectionery and food products producer said it would put "fun" in the digital assets as Left TWIX and Right TWIX are bringing their iconic rivalry to the NFT space, and this will be the brand's very first non-fungible creation.

The new TWIX NFT was said to have been created in collaboration with YEAHYEAHCHLOE, a Brisbane, Australia-based artist that is known for her clean lines and flat color art collections. The digital assets are going to be hosted on the MakersPlace NFT platform, a leading rare digital market for authentic digital artworks.

The TWIX brand will be launching its "Left NFTWIX" and "Right NFTWIX" NFTs, and these were described as "two seemingly identical pieces of art but are verifiably different." The collaboration of the said artist and the confectionery brand has been titled "TWIX Presents NFTWIX x YEAHYEAHCHLOE," and it will be on the MakersPlace on Wednesday, Oct. 20.

Once available, people can register to the NFT site and have the chance to collect the art pieces. However, fans should take note that the competitive collection featuring the TWIX NFTs will only run for 24 hours, and they will be offered as limited editions for $200.

"As a brand that sees the uniqueness in everything, even things that appear to be the same, it was only natural for us to create NFTs to celebrate the joyful rivalry of Left TWIX and Right TWIX," Mars Wrigley brand director, Michelle Deignan, said in a press release. "We look forward to seeing which side will reign, all while creating better moments and more smiles in support of digital arts education."

The profits from the sale of TWIX's art NFTs will be donated to an organization that supports digital arts education. The event is also said to be part of Mars Wrigley's commitment to net-zero carbon emissions from the sale and minting of all the TWIX non-fungible tokens.

Finally, the rivalry of Left and Right TWIX stemmed from the belief that each of them was of the highest nobility. YEAHYEAHCHLOE was said to have captured this fun conflict, and everyone can see it in her artwork.
