Mark Harmon is currently serving as one of the executive producers of “NCIS” and “NCIS: New Orleans.” Despite holding a management position, the actor is still portraying his Jethro Leroy Gibbs role in the first-mentioned drama. Now, although there were previous concerns about his health, he is still set to work on a new project that is under CBS as well.
Mark Harmon will be the executive producer of a new drama series that will be based on John Sandford's "Prey" novel series. It will present detective stories but the title is not yet available for now.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming CBS drama will be about a homicide detective who is stationed at the Minneapolis police department. His name is Lucas Davenport and he teamed up with his best friend, Elle Krueger, to hunt for criminals. Interestingly, the latter is a nun who also works as a psychology professor.
The unlikely team up was formed after a tragedy brought them together. As a result, they vowed to catch the most dangerous bad guys in Minnesota.
John Sandford authored the "Rules of Prey" series and he started publishing this in 1989. To date, the author already completed and released 28 “Prey” books. The 29th book titled “Neon Prey” has been set for publishing on April 23, 2019.
At any rate, Mark Harmon will work on this new project but he will not be leaving “NCIS.” The rumors of his exit from the show emerged again due to the concerns about his health. Likewise, many wonder if the actor can still juggle many jobs as apart from his age, he is not in the best of health anymore.
One thing is clear, Mark Harmon will continue to appear as Leroy Gibbs in “NCIS” and he is set to work on the new “Prey” project. The 67-year-old actor will work with Ed Decter once the series begins its production.
