“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” season 20 is just a week away from premiering. The longest drama series to air on TV is set to make another history when it goes past its two-decade continuous telecast on NBC.
What to Expect
Executive Producer Michael Chernuchin shared that “Law & Order: SVU” season 20 will begin with a sad pilot story. This is because the plot will continue from the time Assistant District Attorney Peter Stone’s sister Pamela was murdered. The EP related that the ADA will be in deep grief and things are not well with him.
“He’s feeling guilty and he’s trying to get over his guilt,” Chernuchin told TV Line. “It doesn’t affect his work, but outside the courtroom, he’s not the same guy he was.”
Elsewhere, “Law & Order” season 20 will show Olivia Benson and Peter Stone working together in a sex trafficking case. The two will team up in an effort to reunite a young girl and her mother after she was rescued from the illegal operation.
Meanwhile, Entertainment Tonight reported that “Law & Order” season 20 star Kelli Giddish is pregnant with her second baby. As stated in the news, the 38-year-old actress showed off her growing baby bump at the red carpet for the show’s 20th season premiere.
The event was held on Thursday in New York City. It was an extra special day as the cast and crew are also marking the drama’s 20th anniversary.
Mariska Hargitay, who plays Detective Olivia Benson in “Law & Order: SVU,” also posed for a photo with Giddish and she revealed that her co-star was a big help to her when she was working while pregnant.
"Mariska's given me advice and I sit and take it because, you know, she's got a great family and she creates a great family for us at SVU," she gushed. "If it weren't for her setting that tone, it would be a much much different place to work."
“Law & Order: SVU” season 20 is set to premiere on Sept. 27 at 9 p.m. on NBC.
