CFTC commitment of traders report was released on Friday (29th July) and cover positions up to Tuesday (July 26th). COT report is not a complete presenter of entire market positions, however, it represents a good chunk of institutional traders, to have a feel of what expected by the big players.

- Gold – Net position long and decreasing
The net-longs in gold declined for third consecutive week. The net long position declined by 6,956 contracts to +279K contracts.
- Copper – Net position long and increasing
After flipping to the long side last week, copper longs increased further. The net-longs increased by 2,454 contracts to 4.82K contracts. Net longs increased for a sixth consecutive week.
- Silver – Net position long and increasing
The net-long position in silver rose by 1,687 contracts to +96.1K contracts. Net-longs saw seventh consecutive gains.
- WTI Crude – Net position long and decreasing
Crude oil saw another sizable decrease in net long positions by 16,282 contracts to +273.3K contracts. Net longs have declined for a fifth consecutive week.
- Natural gas – Net position short and decreasing
Natural gas net-shorts declined for second consecutive week. Net-short positions declined by 10,487 contracts to -126K contracts.
